On Cross-Layer Interactions for Congestion Control in the Internet

چکیده
Two key mechanisms of the Internet are congestion control in Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Active Queue Management (AQM) routers. The former divides bandwidth between flows prevents from collapse. Simultaneously, latter informs hosts forthcoming by preventive dropping packets network nodes. Although these two may severely interact with each other, they often being researched independently, parallel. This has led to development a few new controls AQM algorithms known for excellent performance under assumption that counterpart remains unaltered. It is unclear, however, how solutions both areas other. purpose this paper fill gap. Namely, an extensive set simulations, impact interactions state-of-the-art on TCP connection studied. As result, recommendations using some particular TCP-AQM pairs, which observed perform especially well, formulated.

Efficient Cross-layer Routing & Congestion Control Architectures for Distributed Systems
In this proposal we first describe some major research problems in distributed systems. We broadly classify these research challenges into four categories. Each of these challenges are in the areas of congestion control, routing, large scale distributed systems (cloud computing) and Distributed of Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. We then discuss existing techniques to deal with these challenge...
متن کاملCross-Layer Congestion Control in Wireless Ad Hoc Network
Congestion control is a critical issue in mobile ad-hoc networks. This paper reflects a cooperatively ideal strategy of cross-layer congestion control, routing and setting up ad hoc wireless networks. We first calculate the degree check and scheduling check using multi-commodity flowing variables and calculate reserve sharing in networks with secure wireless channels as a service expansion issu...

The multipath protocol AOMDV is removes the limitation of alternative path and balance the load more efficiently. In this research the proposed scheme firstly, introduces a redundant multipath routing strategy, which establishes and maintains multiple backup routes from the source and intermediate node to the destination node and increment the buffer space of nodes with very low routing overhea...
متن کاملCross-layer congestion control in ad hoc wireless networks
The paper presents the problem of performance degradation of transport layer protocols due to congestion of wireless local area networks. Following the analysis of available solutions to this problem, a cross-layer congestion avoidance scheme (CTCP) is presented, able to obtain higher performance by gathering capacity information such as bandwidth and delay at the link layer. The method require...
متن کاملOn the cross-layer interactions between congestion and contention in wireless sensor and actor networks
Wireless Sensor and Actor Networks (WSAN) are composed of large number of sensor nodes collaboratively observing a physical phenomenon and relatively smaller number of actor nodes, which act upon the sensed phenomenon. Due to the limited capacity of shared wireless medium and memory restrictions of the sensor nodes, channel contention and network congestion can be experienced during the operati...
